This officially happened this week. Dr. Brown turned over her CIM hat to alumni and faculty member, Jon Huddleston.

CIM is so fortunate to have had such an amazing, passionate and smart person to lead all these years! We know Jon shares the same passion and will serve CIM well. Don’t worry everyone, she will remain at MTSU’s Concrete and Construction Management Department as a faculty member.

Thank you Dr. Brown for all you’ve done and best wishes in all your future endeavors. Thank you Jon for taking the lead in our great CIM program!

The RFP for the GC is out now and will be selected between March 27-April 15.

We are currently in Schematic Design and will begin Design Development once the GC is selected.

The site demolition of the dorms will not begin until Winter 2020, with an overall construction schedule of 18 months; however, we are optimistic in achieving an earlier completion date.

We are requiring the GC to submit their fee, but price will not be a deciding factor. Rather, the score will be heavily weighted on technical requirements and team qualification. This is the first CMGC(Construction Manger/GC) early release bid for MTSU history!

Although we have come a long way since conception, we still need more commitment to pledge a donation to our Alumni Donors Wall!! All of the larger rooms are named but we are looking to name some of the smaller spaces through these donations. More to come on this but in the meantime please help us spread the word to past and upcoming Alumni!

The new building for the School of Concrete and Construction on MTSU’s southeastern corner of campus has been officially approved by the Governor and state legislature and is now beginning the planning phase.  This summer the bid process will successful to obtain Orcutt | Winslow as the architect and planning meetings have begun.  An RFP for a general contractor should be released soon. The hope is to demolish the two vacated dorms on the jobsite later in the year to stay on the projected construction schedule developed by MTSU Campus Planning.

With a focus on fundraising and a lot of momentum in recent weeks, this year's Golf Tournament has a new name and was the largest in the 14 year history of the event. 54 teams played over the two rounds with at least 60 alumni at the event and $97,600 raised toward the new CCM building!

This year, CIM Founding Father, the late Jim Speakman, was also honored by naming the tournament in his honor and dedicating hole flags prior to the tournament.

In 2017, CIM gathered donations to also include a silent auction during and after the Skeet Shoot. Items auctioned off included a Remington Versamax Shotgun, tickets to the Nashville Predators, and a Yeti cooler. $5,024 was raised with the silent auction, and another $5,260 with the skeet shoot to go toward our building fund.

During our Patrons meeting Friday, we also voted to donate $2,000 of our silent auction earnings to the family of Ryan Helton. Ryan is a 2008 alum that lost his battle to Ewing Sarcoma a few weeks ago. A jar was put out at the shoot and Mayday and you all were so generous as we collected $4,850 total! Then, the following week, Smyrna RMX donated another $2,500 to Ryan's fund. Our own, Jessie Boone, was able to deliver the checks to Ryan's wife, Heather, at a fundraising benefit for the family last Saturday on behalf of the CIM Patrons, Alumni and Smyrna Ready Mix.

This year marks the third year in a row that CIM students have gotten assistance from the Patrons to travel to the Dominican Republic to continue work on reef restoration on the north side of the island. Students traveled from Nashville to Miami to Puerto Plata and on to Sosua to work for 10 days building concrete prisms on the beach.

This year's group had a great dynamic and we beat the previous record, building 26 prisms over the stay.
